इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि जिस उद्देश्य को लेकर कोई कार्य आरंभ किया जाता है, वही प्रयोजन कहलाता है। अर्थात्, प्रयोजन वह कारण है, जिसके लिए कोई व्यक्ति या कर्ता किसी कार्य में प्रवृत्त होता है। यह प्रयोजन ही सभी क्रियाओं के पीछे प्रेरक शक्ति के रूप में कार्य करता है।

This sūtra states that the purpose (prayojanam) is that for the sake of which an activity is undertaken. In other words, purpose is the motivating factor or reason behind any action. It is the goal or motive that prompts an agent to engage in any activity, serving as the driving force behind all actions.
