Commentary (टीका)
This verse contrasts the states of an egotistical individual and an enlightened sage. The one bound by ego and attachment to the gross body experiences both pleasure and pain, as well as auspicious and inauspicious results. In stark contrast, the enlightened sage, vidhvasta-bandhasya, who is free from worldly bonds and identifies with the true self, sadatmanaḥ, transcends such dualities. For such a sage, no action results in either auspicious or inauspicious outcomes as they are beyond the cycle of karma-phala. This highlights the core Vedantic teaching of non-attachment and self-realization, leading to liberation from saṁsāra.
