Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the importance of internal calmness and mental focus in achieving spiritual enlightenment. By controlling the 'indriyas' (senses) and maintaining a 'śānta-manāḥ' (calm mind), one directly combats the 'dhvāntam' (darkness) born of 'anādi-avidya' (beginningless ignorance). The ultimate means of liberation is through 'eka-tva-vilokana', the realization of oneness with the truth, which annihilates any residue of ignorance. It highlights the necessity of a disciplined meditative practice for attaining inner peace and overarching unity with the cosmos.
