Commentary (टीका)

This verse encourages one to meditate on the Brahman, which is beyond the physical cycles of birth, growth, and decay, and remains untouched by disease and destruction. It underlines the imperishable and eternal nature of Brahman, emphasizing that it is the underlying cause of the uninterrupted creation of the universe. The phrase tattvamasi (तत्त्वमसि) is a mahavakya from the Upanishads, translating to "That Thou Art," and echoes the essential teaching of one's identity with Brahman. Through deep meditation and introspection, one is encouraged to realize this truth within oneself.
