- Commentary:
This verse highlights the profound acknowledgment and praise from the guru (spiritual teacher) towards the disciple on the path of self-realization. The guru expresses full admiration, declaring the disciple blessed and accomplished, not just for themselves but for elevating their entire family lineage through their spiritual pursuit. The emphasis on the desire to liberate oneself from the bondage created by ignorance (avidyā) reflects the primary goal in Vedantic philosophy – realizing one's true nature as Brahman, the ultimate reality.
The guru's words suggest that such noble aspirations not only benefit the individual but also purify their ancestors and descendants, thus enhancing the spiritual stature of their lineage. It underscores the idea that spiritual advancement is not an isolated endeavor but has profound ramifications in the spiritual realm, affecting all associated with the individual.
Liberation (moksha) from ignorance is considered the utmost purpose of human life in Vedanta. The verse, thereby, encourages seekers to strive for self-realization and highlights the importance of guidance from a knowledgeable and enlightened teacher who recognizes and supports their disciples' spiritual journey.
