This verse captures the humility and earnestness of a disciple towards their teacher. The disciple recognizes their position as a seeker of knowledge and, with utmost respect, requests the teacher's attention and guidance. The phrase "kṛpayā śrūyatām" reflects the disciple's appeal for compassionate listening, acknowledging the teacher's wisdom and the importance of receiving guidance to resolve doubts or gain deeper understanding.
The disciple's use of "yaduttaramahaṁ śrutvā kṛtārthaḥ syāṁ" signifies the transformative potential of knowledge imparted by the guru. The aim is not merely to receive an answer but to be enriched and fulfilled, marking the completion of the disciple's quest or curiosity with clarity and insight.
This exchange highlights a foundational aspect of the guru-disciple relationship, where the disciple, through reverence and openness, sets the stage for a meaningful transmission of knowledge. The sloka underscores the central role of humility and respect in the pursuit of wisdom, illustrating that a question asked with sincerity and received with grace leads toward enlightenment and fulfillment.
