Commentary (टीका)

This verse speaks to the illusion caused by the misidentification of the self with the adjunct-related (aupādhika) attributes due to delusion (mūḍha-dhī). It uses the metaphor of the sun (ravivat) to describe the real self, which remains ever unaffected and inactive (viniṣkriya) like the sun, despite the shifting shadows of worldly activities. The assertion "I am doer, enjoyer, destroyed" reflects the mistaken identities imposed on the self due to ignorance. The key message is to recognize the unchanging and passive nature of the self beyond temporal adjuncts.
