Commentary (टीका)

This verse underscores the essence of abandoning investigations that cause bondage for an ascetic. By affirming "I am" through ātmadṛṣṭi (self-realization), the ascetic gains steadfastness in brahman. This inner firmness, achieved through svānubhūti (self-experience), brings joy and removes the pratīta duḥkha or perceived suffering linked with supreme knowledge. This illustrates the Vedantic emphasis on direct experience and self-realization for liberation. The verse inspires seekers to focus on internal realization rather than external searches for truth, highlighting the strength that comes from true knowledge and realization of Brahman.
