यह सूत्र बताता है कि जब उत्तर (प्रत्युत्तर) की समझ नहीं हो पाती, तब उसे 'अप्रतिभा' कहा जाता है। अर्थात्, जब व्यक्ति उत्तर देने में असमर्थ होता है या विचार नहीं कर पाता, तो वह अप्रतिभा कहलाती है। यह न्यायशास्त्र में उत्तर न दे पाने की स्थिति को दर्शाता है।

This sūtra explains that when there is non-comprehension of an answer or response, it is termed as 'absence of wit' (apratibhā). In other words, when a person is unable to provide a reply or lacks the presence of mind to respond, it is called apratibhā. This describes the state in Nyāya philosophy where one fails to answer due to lack of understanding or mental readiness.
