इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि जब कोई उदाहरण (दृष्टान्त) प्रतिदृष्टान्त के रूप में कारणता ग्रहण करता है, तब भी वह स्वयं कारण नहीं बन जाता। अर्थात्, उदाहरण का कार्य केवल स्पष्ट करना है, वह तर्क का मुख्य कारण नहीं होता।
English
This sūtra states that even when an example (dṛṣṭānta) assumes the function of being an analogous reason (pratidṛṣṭānta), it does not itself become the reason (hetu). That is, the example serves only to clarify, but does not itself constitute the primary reason in an argument.
