यह सूत्र बताता है कि गंधेन्द्रिय (नः) के कार्य का फल तभी उत्पन्न होता है जब पुरुष (ज्ञाता) द्वारा कोई प्रयास किया जाता है। यदि पुरुषकर्म (पुरुष का प्रयास) नहीं होता, तो फल (परिणाम) की उत्पत्ति नहीं होती। अर्थात्, ज्ञाता के प्रयास के अभाव में इन्द्रिय का फल प्राप्त नहीं होता।

English

This sūtra states that the result of the organ of smell (naḥ) arises only when there is human effort (puruṣa-karma). In the absence of such effort, the result (phala) does not come into being. Thus, without the agent's activity, the function of the sense organ does not yield its result.
