इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि आत्मा का विशेष संयोग (विशिष्ट संपर्क) केवल प्रेरणा, स्वतःस्फूर्त इच्छा या ज्ञान की अवस्थाओं के कारण नहीं होता। अर्थात्, आत्मा और शरीर आदि के बीच जो विशिष्ट संबंध है, वह केवल इन कारणों से नहीं बनता, बल्कि उसके लिए अन्य कारण अपेक्षित हैं। यह सूत्र आत्मा के संयोग के कारणों की सीमाओं को स्पष्ट करता है।
