इस सूत्र में कहा गया है कि जो विधि (नियम या आदेश) द्वारा निर्धारित किया गया है, उसके पुनः कथन को 'अनुवाद' कहा जाता है। अर्थात्, जब किसी कर्तव्य या आदेश का पुनरुक्ति की जाती है, तो वह अनुवाद कहलाता है। यहाँ अनुवचन (पुनः कथन) का संबंध पहले से विहित (निर्धारित) विधि से है।

This sūtra states that the repetition of what has been prescribed by an injunction is called 'anuvāda' (reiteration). In other words, when a duty or command that has already been enjoined is restated, that restatement is termed anuvāda. Here, the repetition (anuvachana) specifically refers to what has already been prescribed (vihita) by an injunction (vidhi).
