Commentary (टीका)
This verse emphasizes the importance of prioritizing one's spiritual goals over the mere maintenance of the physical body. The *deha* (body) is described as being meant for service to higher purposes (*parārtha*), yet individuals often become entangled in its upkeep, driven by *anādi-avidyā* (beginningless ignorance) that creates *bandha* (bondage). By ignoring *kṛtyam* (duty), which is ultimately *mokṣa* (liberation), a person unwittingly causes harm to themselves, losing sight of the true purpose of human existence. This teaching encourages the seeker to focus on liberation and inner growth rather than transient corporeal concerns.
