Commentary (टीका)

In this sloka, the emphasis is on the path toward *mokṣa* (liberation). The aspirant is encouraged to renounce sensory pleasures, likened to poison, as they are considered hindrances to spiritual progress. Instead, the teachings suggest embracing qualities such as *tōṣa* (satisfaction), *dayā* (compassion), *kṣamā* (forgiveness), *ārjava* (simplicity), *praśānti* (tranquility), and *dānti* (self-restraint). These virtues are to be cultivated constantly and with reverence, as they resemble nectar, providing real satisfaction and leading one closer to liberation. This reflects the profound Vedantic principle that self-control and inner virtues are essential for spiritual emancipation.
