Commentary (टीका)

This sloka reveals the ignorance inherent in perceiving duality where there is only non-dual reality. The concept of bondage (*bandha*) and liberation (*mokṣa*) are seen as false constructs imagined by the deluded intellect. This is comparable to the illusion of clouds covering the sun, where in reality, the sun remains unaffected. The verse emphasizes the undifferentiated nature of consciousness, referred to as advaya (non-dual) and asaṅga (unattached), reinforcing that ultimate reality is beyond dualistic perceptions of bondage and liberation. This insight is essential for understanding Vedantic philosophy which advocates for the realization of one's true nature as limitless consciousness (cit).
