Sloka (श्लोक)

अशरीरं सदा सन्तमिमं ब्रह्मविदं क्वचित् ।
प्रियाप्रिये न स्पृशतस्तथैव च शुभाशुभे ॥ ५४५ ॥

aśarīraṁ sadā santam imaṁ brahmavidaṁ kvacit | priyāpriye na spṛśatas tathaiva ca śubhāśubhe || 545 ||

Translation (अनुवाद)

This knower of Brahman, who is always without body, is touched neither by pleasure nor pain, nor by good or bad.

Commentary (टीका)

The verse describes the state of an enlightened being, a brahmavid, who, being aśarīra, is untouched by the dualities of worldly experience such as pleasure and pain (priyā-apriya) or good and bad (śubha-aśubha). This signifies a state of complete detachment and realization, beyond the corporeal experiences that bind ordinary beings. The knower of Brahman remains established in the ultimate truth, free from the effects of duality that generally affect human life. The emphasis on 'always' (sadā) highlights the constant nature of this realization.
