Commentary (टीका)

This sloka emphasizes the importance of personal experience and direct perception over theoretical or second-hand knowledge. Just as the moon's form cannot truly be understood by descriptions given by others, the true nature of any object or reality is best known through one's own clear perception (*sphuṭa-bodha-cakṣuṣā*). The verse subtly critiques the reliance on scholarly knowledge (*paṇḍitena*), illustrating that true understanding stems from individual realization. This reflects a central theme in *Vedanta*, where direct experience (*anubhava*) is crucial for the realization of ultimate truths.
