Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the idea of advaita or non-duality, where the true self, which is indivisible and undifferentiated, transcends imagination and illusion. The vikalpanam or imagination is likened to constructing a ‘‘city in the sky’’, highlighting its transient and unreal nature. By turning inward and realizing one's true ātman as full of ānanda (bliss), one attains para (supreme) śānti (peace). Embracing maunam (silence) suggests a state of inner tranquility and cessation of unnecessary thoughts, guiding the aspirant towards ultimate liberation.
