Commentary (टीका)

This verse captures the essence of Advaita Vedanta philosophy. It highlights the non-dual nature of Brahman which is described as the foundation of all existence, the force that illuminates all things, omnipresent, yet beyond all forms and emptiness. The qualities of eternal (nitya), pure (śuddha), unmoving (niścala), and beyond distinctions (nirvikalpa) point toward the transcendental nature of this reality. The declaration "tadevaham asmi," meaning "I am that," signifies the realization of one's true self as non-different from this ultimate reality. This sloka invites an exploration into the profound nature of self and the universe, urging the seeker to recognize their inherent unity with the divine.
