Commentary (टीका)
The verse speaks to the nature of the self as described in Vedantic philosophy, emphasizing the ever-present, unchanging, and indivisible nature of the true self, 'ātman'. It challenges the idea of action, suggesting that in the state of pure awareness, there is neither engagement nor disengagement. Ātman is compared to the sky, signifying its vastness and fullness, indicating an unbroken continuum. This highlights the fundamental concept of non-duality, where any perceived action is merely an illusion at the level of form, while the essence remains untouched and unchanged, complete in its pure state.
