Commentary (टीका)

In this verse, the speaker asserts their divine nature and ultimate liberation. Identifying as *nārāyaṇa*, a representation of the divine, they express qualities of supreme power by being the destroyer of both hell (naraka) and cities (pura). As *puruṣa*, they embody the principle of consciousness or the supreme person (*īśa*). Their awareness is described as *akhaṇḍa-bodha*, unbroken and complete consciousness, affirming an enlightened state of being. They proclaim themselves as the *aśeṣa-sākṣī* or witness to all, suggesting omnipresence and omniscience. By declaring themselves *nirīśvara* (without a lord), *niraham* (without ego), and *nirmama* (without attachment), the speaker emphasizes their transcendence over worldly ties, highlighting a state beyond duality and individualism. Such a state epitomizes the peak of Vedantic realization where one is fully liberated from the confines of earthly existence.
