Commentary (टीका)

This verse is a profound salutation to the Guru, highlighting several key qualities: freedom from attachments ('vimuktasaṅga'), supreme excellence ('saduttama'), embodiment of eternal non-dual bliss ('nityādvayānanda'), and being an ocean of endless compassion ('apāradayā'). The *guru* is described as a 'mahātmā', a great soul, who guides the seeker in understanding the essence of non-duality (*advaya*) and leads them towards the bliss (*ānanda*) that is unchanging and eternal. The *Guru* is also portrayed as a boundless ocean of compassion (*dayā*), always available to those who seek refuge. This sloka encapsulates the reverence and significance bestowed upon a spiritual teacher in guiding one towards liberation and inner peace.
