Commentary (टीका)

This sloka illustrates the parallel between the guidance offered by learned gurus and the wisdom enshrined in the scriptures. Just as gurus, when standing by (as guides), enlighten seekers on the path, the teachings of the śruti serve as an eternal guide. However, true crossing over the worldly attachments and delusions (symbolized as a river) requires not only wisdom but also the anugraha (grace) of īśvara. The verse emphasizes the harmonious collaboration of human effort (through śruti and wisdom) and divine grace (īśvarānugraha) in the pursuit of spiritual liberation.
