Commentary (टीका)

This verse elucidates the concept of prārabdha or destiny and its role in the life of a spiritual aspirant. It implies that one's destiny or prārabdha is realized when there is a strong identification with the body, but the desirable state for a seeker is to transcend this identification. The verse advises that since the attachment to the physical body is not beneficial for spiritual progress, one must renounce such attachments. Here, the emphasis is on realizing the 'ātmā' beyond the physical form and letting go of prārabdha as a binding trap in order to attain liberation or mokṣa.
