Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the value of sama-bhāva or equanimity as an essential characteristic of a jīvan-mukta, one who is liberated while still living. The verse illustrates that true liberation is not confined to external circumstances but is a state of inner balance and serenity. Whether receiving honor from the virtuous or undergoing oppression from the wicked, the person who maintains a serene equanimity exhibits the decided trait of living liberation. This state reflects a deep spiritual maturity and detachment, crucial for trascending dualities and attaining lasting peace.
