Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the necessity of inner composure and dedication in the pursuit of self-realization. By urging one to behold the self as infinite splendor (akhaṇḍa-vaibhava), the verse underlines the importance of recognizing one's true nature. The term samāhita-antaḥkaraṇa (composed mind) suggests the meditative focus required to perceive this reality. Moreover, it advises severing the bondage (bandham) tainted by worldly existence (bhava-gandha) with determined effort (yatnena). This endeavor is likened to fulfilling one's puṁstva, or essential human purpose. The encouragement to realize one's spiritual potential speaks to the transcendence of the mundane, ultimately leading to liberation from the cycles of birth and death.
