Sloka (श्लोक)

स्वात्मन्यारोपिताशेषाभासर्वस्तुनिरासतः ।
स्वयमेव परं ब्रह्म पूर्णमद्वयमक्रियम् ॥ ३९७ ॥

Transliteration (लिप्यांतरण)

svātmany āropitāśeṣābhā sarvasthu-nirāsataḥ | svayam eva paraṁ brahma pūrṇam advayam akriyam || 397 ||

Translation (अनुवाद)

Upon negating all false projections on the self, one realizes oneself as the ultimate, indivisible, and actionless Brahman.

In this verse, the focus is on the realization of one's true nature by discarding erroneous identifications and projections (*āropita*). It speaks to the core Vedantic teaching where through the negation (*nirāsa*) of transient appearances (*ābhā*), one perceives the self as the ultimate reality, which is *param brahma*, characterized by being infinite (*pūrṇam*), non-dual (*advaya*), and free from actions (*akriyam*). This realization occurs when the seeker understands the illusory nature of the multiplicity imposed upon the self (*svātman*). Through such a profound insight, the individual consciousness merges with the absolute, recognizing its own completeness and unity with *Brahman*.
