Commentary (टीका)

This verse speaks about the path to self-realization through the renunciation of attachments and the recognition of one's true identity as Brahman. It beckons us to discard the illusions and impurities that bind us to ignorance, particularly those that stem from a bloated sense of ego. The ‘linga-deha’, or subtle body, represents the finer layers of experience and identity beyond the physical. Even this must be transcended to realize our eternal nature. As described in the scriptures, our real essence is perpetual bliss (ānanda), which remains untainted by temporal and illusory existence. The term 'nityamānanda-mūrti' emphasizes recognizing oneself as an embodiment of unceasing joy, nudging us towards the ultimate truth of Brahman, thereby urging us to exist ('tiṣṭha') in that supreme consciousness. This process aligns with the goals of Vedantic philosophy as it paves the way for liberation.
