Commentary (टीका)
This sloka examines the process of purification both externally and internally. The analogy of purifying gold through fire to remove impurities signifies the rigorous but rewarding journey of self-purification. Similarly, through the discipline of dhyāna (meditation), one can transcend the mala (impurities) associated with the three guṇas—sattva, rajas, and tamas. By meticulously disengaging from these bondages, the manaḥ (mind) draws nearer to the essence of tattva, or existential truth. The process illuminates the innate capacity to rise above human limitations and touch the ultimate reality, a theme deeply woven into Vedantic philosophy.
