Commentary (टीका)

This verse expresses a deep plea to be saved from the inescapable agonies of *saṁsāra*, described metaphorically as a devastating forest fire. The seeker is tossed about by the harsh winds of misfortune and fear, recognizing helplessness and vulnerability. The earnest cry for protection signifies complete surrender (*prapatti*) to a higher power, underlining the human need to find a steadfast refuge amidst life’s turbulent storms. Recognizing this refuge as the only hope, the verse calls attention to the spiritual journey towards liberation from the cycle of death and rebirth.
