Commentary (टीका)

This verse speaks to the illusion of differentiation caused by upādhi or conditioning factors. In Vedantic philosophy, distinctions arise from external attributes or limitations, which lead the individual soul to appear divided. However, upon the removal of these limitations, the self remains as kevala (pure or absolute). The vidvān or wise person is encouraged to dissolve these limiting factors by residing constantly in akalpa-samādhi (unwavering meditation). This state of meditation allows one to witness and eventually cast off the artificial identities and separations imposed by upādhi, leading to the realization of one's inherent, undivided nature.
