The fire of discrimination between the eternal and the non-eternal burns away the dense ignorance completely. What seed of rebirth may remain for one who has attained the state of non-duality?

Commentary (टीका)
This verse emphasizes the transformative power of *viveka* or discrimination between the eternal (*para*) and the non-eternal (*avara*). It suggests that this discriminative knowledge acts as a fire (*vanhiḥ*) that burns away the dense forest of *avidyā* or ignorance in its entirety, leaving nothing behind. The verse further ponders over the irrelevance of any 'seed' or cause of rebirth (*saṁsaraṇa-bīja*) for someone who has achieved the state of *advaita bhāva*, or non-duality, highlighting the complete liberation such realization offers. In *Vedantic* philosophy, the dissolution of ignorance leads to the realization of one's true self, ending the cycle of *saṁsāra*.
