Translation (अनुवाद)
Defeating the power of distraction is difficult without the complete cessation of the veiling power; when the distinction between the seer and the seen becomes clear, that veiling in the self will naturally dissolve, and undoubtedly, the obstructionless projection ceases when related to the false objective.

Commentary (टीका)
This verse delves into the Vedantic understanding of the mind's hindrances on the spiritual path. The vikṣepa-śakti, or power of distraction, diverts one from realizing the true self due to the āvaraṇa-शक्ति, or veiling power of ignorance. Only when these impediments are entirely removed does the distinction between the dṛg (seer) and dṛśya (seen) become evidently clear, much like seeing a payoja (lotus) distinctly separated from jala (water). When the false notion of separation dissolves, the projection of ignorance ceases, reaching a state of natural, unobstructed self-realization. The verse underscores the importance of eliminating both distractions and ignorance to achieve spiritual liberation.
