Commentary (टीका)

This sloka elucidates the mechanism of how a person's consciousness is obscured by the force of delusion. The 'ahaṁ-buddhi' or ego-sense collaborates with 'mohinī', the deluding force, leveraging the power of 'avṛti' or ignorance, to distract the conscious self ('puruṣa') by manifesting as qualities ('guṇas'). The verse highlights the process of attachment and diversion led by the dual forces of ego and delusion, causing the individual to stray from knowledge and awareness.
