Translation (अनुवाद)

How is the non-perception of the visible world achieved by one who abides as the body, whose mind is attached to external objects and performing various actions? It is to be done diligently by the knower of Truth who have renounced all objects of dharma and karma, and are intent on the eternal Self, desirous of eternal bliss.

Commentary (टीका)

This verse explores the path of liberation through renunciation and knowledge of one's true nature. It questions how one, identified with the body and mind, consumed by external pursuits, can achieve non-attachment to the visible world. Tattvajñāḥ — the knowers of truth who are deeply rooted in the eternal self and have renounced all worldly duties and desires — are tasked with internalizing this state. This process requires diligent effort and a steadfast desire for constant bliss (ānanda). The verse emphasizes renunciation (saṁnyāsa) as a key to attaining the ultimate truth and suggests that understanding one’s true nature (ātman) aligns with experiencing eternal bliss.
