Commentary (टीका)
This verse unveils a profound spiritual insight into the process of attaining liberation (*'vimukti'*). By controlling the external distractions (*'bāhye niruddhe'*), the mind achieves a state of calmness (*'prasannatā'*). It is within this serene mental state that the vision of the Supreme Self (*'paramātma-darśanam'*) can be realized. The verse highlights that the dissolution of worldly bonds (*'bhava-bandhana-āśa'*), which trap the soul in the cycle of rebirth (*'saṁsāra'*), is achieved through true vision (*'sudṛṣṭi'*). Thus, practicing external restraint is not merely an act of self-control, but a crucial step on the spiritual path leading to liberation. The teachings echo Vedantic philosophy, emphasizing the intrinsic connection between external discipline, internal serenity, and ultimate spiritual awakening.
