Commentary (टीका)

This verse emphasizes the significance of understanding the non-dual nature of Brahman. It states that even a wise person, vipaścit, must be careful not to perceive duality, bheda, within the infinite, ananta, nature of Brahman. The moment one assumes even the smallest division or separation within this non-dual reality, bhaya, or fear, arises. This mistaken perception is a result of pramāda or error, leading to a sense of dualism that does not truly exist. The verse serves as a warning against the conceptualization of separation, underlining the core Vedantic philosophy that all is one, and division is an illusion, a result of ignorance.
