Commentary (टीका)
This verse beautifully captures the vulnerability of even the learned when confronted with sensory attractions. The metaphor of a woman distracting her beloved is apt to illustrate how *vismṛti* (forgetfulness) can lead to the loss of focus and wisdom. Despite their knowledge, vidvans (wise ones) may fall prey to *dhīdoṣa* (defects in the mind) that arise when facing attractions, similar to how emotional attachments can cloud judgment. The sloka underscores the importance of vigilance and self-awareness in maintaining steadiness of mind.
