Commentary (टीका)
This verse highlights the concept that among various obstacles faced by individuals in the journey of life, ego (*ahaṁkāra*) is identified as the root cause and the initial distortion or transformation (*prathama-vikāra*). The ego is considered the first step that alters one's perception, preventing true understanding and realization. It acts as a veil, obstructing spiritual growth and fostering worldly attachments. By recognizing and overcoming ego, a seeker can transcend these impediments and move towards liberation.
