Commentary (टीका)

This verse highlights the necessity for a yuktātmā, or a disciplined soul, to strive for the dissolution of the ego or ahaṁbhāva within the body. It advocates for the removal of svādhyāsa, or false identifications, through careful and diligent practice. The directive is clear: until one achieves niḥśeṣavilaya, the complete dissolution of self-centric identifications, active effort in self-awareness and correction is essential. This practice is deeply rooted in the Vedantic path of discernment and letting go of attachments to the ego, which is seen as an obstacle to spiritual liberation.
