Commentary (टीका)
The sloka emphasizes the non-duality of existence as propounded in Vedantic philosophy. It asserts that the universe is not separate from Brahman but is indeed an expression of it. The concept of 'अधिष्ठान' ('adhiṣṭhāna'), or substratum, signifies the source or the grounding reality. The 'श्रौती वाणी' ('śrautī vāṇī')—the authoritative declaration of the Vedas—elucidates that any perceived differences or distinctions within the universe are not real but imposed by imagination ('आरोपित'). In this view, understanding non-duality enables liberation from delusion, aligning with the teachings of the अथर्वणिष्ठ ('atharva-niṣṭha'), or those established in the Atharva Veda. This perspective is foundational in Advaita Vedanta, where realizing the oneness of Brahman and the universe transcends the illusory separation perceived in mundane experience.
