Commentary (टीका)
This sloka addresses the understanding of the 'Supreme Self' or 'परात्मा' in contrast to entities characterized by change, limitation, and inertness. The text uses terms such as *vijñāna* (knowledge) and *māyā* (illusion) to highlight what the Supreme Self is not, implying that anything subject to transformation, limitation, or visible change cannot be the eternal *parātmā*. The *parātmā* is beyond *vikāritva* (transformation) and *jaḍatva* (inertness), underlining an essential teaching in Vedantic philosophy: the realization of the Self beyond perceived impermanent attributes. Such an understanding leads to liberation from the cycles of nature characterized by change, reinforcing the notion of eternal truth transcending the ephemeral nature of the perceived world.
