Commentary (टीका)
This verse metaphorically describes the mind as a great tiger roaming in the jungle of sensory pleasures. The viṣaya-arṇya, or the jungle of attachments, is where the mind wanders, often leading one astray from spiritual pursuits. The mumukṣavaḥ, or seekers of liberation, are advised to avoid such paths that lead to sensory entanglement. The verse serves as a reminder of the dangers posed by the uncontrolled mind and emphasizes restraint and focus on spiritual goals.
