The non-difference between Brahman and the Self

Summary (in English)

These slokas focus on the concept of non-difference between Brahman and the Self, a central theme in Advaita Vedānta. Sloka 223 highlights that realizing one's oneness with Brahman leads to the liberation (mokṣa) from saṁsāra, and allows one to experience ānanda (bliss) that is unparalleled. This is a profound realization beyond intellectual understanding. Sloka 224 reiterates that once an individual realizes their brahmabhūtatva (state of being Brahman), they transcend the cycle of worldly existence. It stresses the need for a complete understanding of the non-difference between ātmā (self) and Brahman. Finally, Sloka 225 celebrates Brahman as eternal (satya), knowledge (jñāna) and infinite (ananta), which is pure (viśuddha), supreme (para), and self-established (svataḥsiddhaṃ). Brahman is described as transcending and continuously prevailing, embodying the essence of eternal bliss (nityānanda). Together, these verses encapsulate the ultimate goal of realizing one's unity with the ultimate reality.
