Translation (अनुवाद)
The Supreme Self (paramātmā) is well-balanced (samāhitaḥ) for one who is self-controlled (jitātmanaḥ) and peaceful (praśāntasya), amidst pairs of opposites such as cold and heat (śītoṣṇa), pleasure and pain (sukha-duḥkha), as well as in situations of honor and dishonor (mānāpamāna).

Commentary (टीका)
In this shloka, Lord Krishna elucidates the nature of a yogi who has achieved self-control (jitātmā) and peace (praśānti). Such a yogi remains unaffected by the dualities of life such as cold and heat (śītoṣṇa), pleasure and pain (sukha-duḥkha), and honor and dishonor (mānāpamāna). The commentary reflects on the yogi’s ability to maintain balance (samāhita) amidst changing circumstances, showing that they have reached a state where the Supreme Self (paramātmā) is well-established within them.
The peaceful state (praśānti) signifies an inner stillness that remains constant regardless of external conditions. This allows the yogi to transcend the temporary fluctuations of physical and mental states, indicating a deep realization of true self or ātman. Swami Sivananda emphasizes that the yogi who is rooted in the self can maintain poise amidst oppositions, having subdued their senses and attained a serene balance.
Hindi commentary by Swami Ramsukhdas expands on the transformative role of perceiving the opposites – seeing one's external fortune or misfortune as neutral and part of life's course. The idea is that true happiness lies in inner contentment, not external circumstances. Therefore, for a true yogi, situations that commonly cause disturbance have no lasting impact.
