अर्जुन उवाच अयतिः श्रद्धयोपेतो योगाच्चलितमानसः। अप्राप्य योगसंसिद्धिं कां गतिं कृष्ण गच्छति।।6.37।।

Arjuna said: O Krishna, what is the fate of the individual who, though endowed with faith yet has no self-control, and whose mind deviates from Yoga without attaining its perfection?

In this sloka, Arjuna questions Krishna about the fate of an individual who, despite possessing faith in spiritual practice and Yoga, fails to achieve self-control and mental stability. Such a person deviates from the path of Yoga without attaining its desired perfection -- the realization of the self. Arjuna seeks to understand whether this person, despite having faith, due to lack of mental discipline, achieves any special spiritual state or encounters a different destiny due to incomplete practice.
In the English commentary by Swami Sivananda, this condition is elaborated as a state of possessing faith in the efficacy of Yoga but lacking the necessary concentration and control over the senses. As a result, such a seeker fails to achieve the ultimate spiritual realization, raising the question of his ultimate fate.
The Hindi commentary by Swami Ramsukhdas explores the implications of having faith and commitment to practice while lacking tenacity and control. Such a practitioner is not wholly aligned with any worldly or heavenly path due to his incomplete practice, leading to the inquiry about his spiritual destination. Both commentaries emphasize the importance of self-control and focus in spiritual attainments.
