श्री भगवानुवाच बहूनि मे व्यतीतानि जन्मानि तव चार्जुन। तान्यहं वेद सर्वाणि न त्वं वेत्थ परन्तप।।4.5।।

śrī bhagavān uvāca bahūni me vyatītāni janmāni tava ca arjuna tāni aham veda sarvāṇi na tvaṁ vettha parantapa
Translation (अनुवाद)
The Blessed Lord said: Many births of mine have passed, and also yours, O Arjuna. I am aware of all of them, but you do not know, O Parantapa (the scorcher of foes).

Commentary (टीका)
This sloka addresses the concept of divine consciousness and the limitations of human mind. Lord Krishna, in his discourse to Arjuna, reveals that he possesses omniscient knowledge of all his past incarnations as well as Arjuna’s past births, a knowledge which Arjuna lacks because of his limited perspective and unawakened spiritual insight.
