न मां कर्माणि लिम्पन्ति न मे कर्मफले स्पृहा। इति मां योऽभिजानाति कर्मभिर्न स बध्यते।।4.14।।

na māṁ karmāṇi limpanti na me karmaphale spṛhā. iti māṁ yo'bhijānāti karmabhirna sa badhyate।।4.14।।
Translation (अनुवाद)
Actions do not taint Me, nor do I have a desire for the fruits of actions. One who knows Me thus is not bound by actions.

Commentary (टीका)
In this verse, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa elucidates His transcendental nature in relation to actions, stating that actions do not taint Him, nor does He have any desire for the results of actions. This implies a state of complete detachment and unselfishness. Worldly individuals often perform actions with egoistic desires for the fruits, which leads to their repeated birth and karmic bondage.
However, if someone understands the nature of Divine as being free from entanglement and devoid of desires, he too becomes free from the cycle of birth and death (saṃsāra). This discourse accentuates the principle of performing one's duty without attachment to results, known as Karma Yoga, which eventually leads to liberation (mokṣa).
Swami Sivananda's commentary highlights that worldly people associate themselves as doers and expect results, which binds them. The key to liberation lies in removing attachment and ego in actions, similar to how the Lord views His creation - without personal desire or involvement.
Swami Ramsukhdas elaborates that the Lord plays the role of a divine creator without an inherent ego of doing and does not attach Himself to the creation (nāma-rūpa) or its fruits. For individuals, following the same principle aligns their actions to become liberating rather than binding. By perceiving oneself as part of divine cosmic order (ṛta) and surrendering the ego, one performs actions in the spirit of divine service.
This understanding aligns with the path of unconditional devotion (bhakti) and surrender, where actions are offered to the divine without reservations. Hence, acts done without attachment and in a spirit of serving the universe lead to liberation.
