Translation (अनुवाद)
As the ignorant who are attached to action perform their duties, the wise should similarly act unattached for the welfare of the world, O Bhārata.

In this verse, the Bhagavad Gita presents the method in which the wise (vidvān) should perform their actions. Unlike the ignorant (avidvān), who are attached (sakta) to their actions and their fruits, the wise should act without attachment (asakta) with the intention of lokasaṅgraha, or the welfare of the world. The avidvān acts expecting personal gains from their efforts, whereas the vidvān serves without personal motive, often creating harmony and spreading knowledge. It promotes a deeper understanding that true wisdom lies in selfless service, not motivated by rewards. This approach not only leads to personal liberation but sets an example for society, helping others move towards peace and harmony. In essence, the wise maintain their duties with an unattached mindset, aligning with the welfare of all beings.
